Corrosión y Protección was founded in 1996 with the objective of addressing one of the most critical and underestimated challenges in industrial infrastructure: corrosion. At a time when corrosion was often treated as an unavoidable consequence of aging assets, the company was established to demonstrate that corrosion could be understood, managed, and prevented through rigorous engineering, applied science, and technical discipline.

From its early years, Corrosión y Protección focused on prevention and asset integrity, providing engineering services designed to extend the operational life of pipelines, coastal installations, energy assets, airports, and industrial facilities throughout Mexico. The company quickly became a reference in corrosion engineering by combining field experience with international standards, diagnostics, and long-term protection strategies.

Over the years, Corrosión y Protección played a central role in strengthening technical capacity in Mexico. It pioneered asset integrity programs, introduced the first NACE (now AMPP) corrosion training in the country, and contributed to the formation of thousands of specialists through certification, education, and professional development. Its work helped establish corrosion engineering as a recognized and essential discipline within national infrastructure projects.

As the company matured, its expertise expanded beyond consulting and inspection into applied research, innovation, and technology development. This evolution laid the foundation for new solutions, laboratories, products, and complementary engineering companies that later became part of CYP Group.
